Edited your title since you posted before I had a chance to do so myself.
Siow was at the run as indicated by attendence (and this time it wasnt a mistake on my part). She asked if she could still attend with us and I told her right off I was going to have to discuss it with the SH. I also told her I wasnt sure about how wed deal with her cause BLM is locked atm.
Siow went MIA a year ago (December 17th 2006). This was announced via a post from Sharps on the forums that she would be MIA for a indefinate amount of time. I can search through forums if need be but that was the gist of it.
Siow's case is more complicated than Katsons for two main reasons. Siow still needs BLM hat which has been historically a difficult item to get in our shell (although recentlly its eased off to well within acceptable levels). The second reason is that Siow has ALOT more points than Katson did so going the same route as Katson (cap at 20) is going to penalize her more than him (on the order of 50pts).
Added to this is the previous issues we have had with people accusing Siow of being Sharps bot (which will only be compounded by the fact that Sharps played her while she was gone).
In her favor she was around as BLM for 100 runs before she went on break so its not like she hasnt put her dues in for a BLM hat and with her current points she will be second in line for a BLM hat (as opposed to being first if she hadnt gone on break).
So thoughts on this issue and what we should do. I want this sorted out before Wednesday.

siow has 73 points i'm next with 64 then cleo with 26, that is a large jump from first to third place, while i dont mind letting her come back (if it's really her) we are at cap.... so what we do here will set a precedent for the members to look at for comming back to the shell with a ton of points... do we have a rule inplace stating what happens when you come back from an extended break? well from what i see we need 5 hats if we bring siow back.... cleo: who just changed to blm mainlot not long aggo and who has recieved ample drops in the past, no offence cleo Xinef: who has made 52 total runs and i would say more than half of them are xarc. making me think he is selectively attending to land a hat. his attendance is spotty at best and is on probation Kana: who has just made the change to blm like cleo, and whom has some nice drops as well Alais: he is very new and imo needs to put alot more time into the shell before i'll go to bat for him to get a hat before siow i think we should cap her at 40 points, granting her the ablity to lock out a hat bid but still be in line with the other lotters once she has a hat... or tell her she needs to change mainlots, though i really dont like the latter... though if we figure in xinef we have been over cap since we let in alais so adding one more really dosent make a difference... with her comming back she needs to be watched and she should be on lotting probation for at least 4 runs... because i really dont want to deal with the whole sharps siow dual-boxing thing....

This came up when Katson came back as well, and I think the consensus was that we should pick one method of dealing with returning members' points and stick with it.
I don't think we should be arbitrarily capping points at different numbers depending on what they need or what the competition's like. Either stick with 20 as the cap, or come up with a formula that we can make into a general rule to handle these situations. I rather like 20 because the situation IS a lot like a main lot switch, the only difference being that the person's main lot was effectively null while they were gone. From the perspective of the other main lots, as well as our perspectives as sackholders dealing with a competitive main lot category, the situations are the same. I think that given that, we should treat them similarly and stick with a static point cap. The only variable then is how long the cutoff should be for "quitting" compared to simple inactivity, which is something we should discuss.
I don't think it's responsible to run around saying "Well, person X deserves this item, so let's only cap their points so far". It violates the whole reason we have a points system, and opens the door for accusations of favoritism and bias, which we really don't need.

I agree that we need to stick with a set cap based on the discussion that went on with Katson. Even if we do that that would put her at second for hat (third if Xinef came back). As for how long someone should be gone before we do this, we can come up with a number but both Katson and Siow had been gone over a year which is a very long time in the scope of Dynamis.
If she is let back in she will have to go through the 4 run porbation same as anyone else. Since she is a BLM she would always be in pty/allaince with atleast 2 SH so it should be reasonable to keep an eye on her.
Xinef has been mia for nearlly 3 months due to work and his attendence before that was iffish as well. If he manages to make it back and work off probation he would be first in line so this doesnt affect him. Kana had his account hacked and will be mia till SE gets their head out of their ass so hes not an immidate concern either.

If you guys let Katson back with 20 points cap then that should be the precedent for every member returning after a long hiatus. As Cleo said its difficult to justify capping her points at a # based on how we "feel" should be the most fair to her in contrast to everyone else. That's opening a big can of worms thats going to cause more issues then its worth.

Handled it last night, she accepted the 20 point cap, effective before last Sunday's run. Sunday and yesterday's run will count for points and against the 4 run probation, so she'll have 22 points and 2 runs to go right now.
