I have an idea for attendance/points, that should be relatively simple, but would help eliminate the issues we have with attendance. I also feel it could be instituted fairly easily as we stand right now.
First, everything gets tripled in value. This may seem high at face value, but based on the point changes, it would actually not be that way. All other aspects of bidding would remain the same.
As for points, there are 3 possible points for each run.
1, being on time in zone. A simple "/sea linkshell" would give "attendance" for this as everyone not in zone would not show then. Done 1 minute after "start time" but before we enter would give the /sea system time to update. Small window for someone to make it in, but 1 minute late isn't bad. Also, people shouldn't really need to ask what job and wait. To my understanding, under the rules you are to attend as mainlot unless specifically told otherwise.
2, the attending "half the run" point. Leave this in effect as is
3, a finishing point so to speak. done by a SH after the 5 min or 3 min warning (obviously would need more SH so someone can deal with drops and yelling at the shell to pass still). Done at one of those warning would eliminate the people "bending the 10 min afk drop glass rule"
By implementing these things, tripple the points would make the cost for an contributing member no different, but would make it a lot harder on those trying to skimp out. Also, it could be a dynamic change. Past point would not need to be fluctuated because we have been getting relic on those points. People low in points will have points built up quickly, people high in points will have the gap close, but will still maintain their "lead"
The only issue I can come up with on this system, is a person who shows, AFK/logout at some point, and comes back towards the end. These people would have to be dealt with on a special case somehow, but I haven't worked the details out for this yet. I feel this would allow the simplicity of our point system to continue, without leaving the attendance hole as it is. However, I wanted to run it by you before I posted something in the general post about this. (knightblazer @ bastok is where I saw this issue arise, cause he was there at the start and end, but AFK about 75% of the run in the middle).
